How did the concept of Newspaper Advertising begin?

Then the 17^th century began with the invention of the printing press in Europe which revolutionized and integrated the concept of getting news printed on paper and spreading them across different parts of Europe. The full fledged production of newspaper began from this dramatic change. In India the same concept was begun by the British, not too long after newspapers started getting printed in Europe, but before Indian Independence, in the year 1779. The first newspaper was named Bengal Gazette, in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and its editor was James Augustus Hickey, which is one of the reasons why it was also known as Hickey’s Journal.
